Historically, the practice of Yoga was taught as a private, one-to-one exchange between student and teacher. This form of teaching and learning is a very effective way to deepen your understanding of how the ancient practice of Yoga applies specifically to you.
For many students there is great value in concentrated one-on-one sessions with the Yoga teacher. This exchange can range from personal training, to 'coaching' of a particular Yoga style or personal practice, to Yoga therapy especially designed to address integration of mind/body systems in the individual.
Most often, this therapeutic practice takes the form of iRest Yoga Nidra, a profoundly transformative practice that leads to lasting psychological change, as well as physical and emotional healing. It teaches how to live a contented life, free of conflict, anxiety and fear and suffering by revealing our inherent ground of health and wholeness.
iRest Yoga Nidra teaches us how to embody skills that we can use throughout our lifetime, that provide us with a sense of mastery when encountering difficult situations, and teaches us how to embody joy and equanimity throughout our daily life.
iRest Yoga Nidra is comprised of a 10-step process that helps heal the various internal conflicts present in our body, mind and hearts.
Participants report that they…
- Sleep better
- Decrease insomnia
- Feel happier
- Reduce depression, anxiety and fear
- Feel greater comfort and ease in their body
- Decrease perception of chronic and acute pain
- Feel happier in their interpersonal relationships
- Improve interpersonal relations
- Feel more comfortable when encountering circumstances they cannot control
- Increase Ease of Being
- Experience an increased sense of control in their lives
- Sense of mastery during everyday events
Typically, an iRest Yoga Nidra session lasts about 45 minutes, plus questions and discussion. While it can be offered in a group class setting, it is all the more effective on a one to one interactive basis.
Private sessions are offered in 3 one-hour packages. The first session is primarily an evaluation/assessment of what is needed/desired for the student in a yoga practice or therapy. The second and third sessions follow from the discoveries in the first, providing the student with practical strategies for their Yoga practice or therapy. After the first 3 sessions, students can book individual sessions or sign up for another series of 3 classes.
Cost for 3 introductory 1-hour sessions is $180. Additional individual sessions are $60 each or 3 for $180. Unless otherwise arranged, all sessions will take place at Shanti House.
Please feel free to enquire about our individual programs.
